Featuring advanced ultra-high current single-push-pull circuit power with Schottky barrier diodes and Advanced AL32 Processing, the Denon PMA-1600NE integrated amplifier delivers music that’s faithful to the original recording. With two digital inputs, a rear USB-B input, MM and MC Phono inputs and equalizer, enjoy impeccable sonic quality from your vinyl collection, and during playback of high-resolution files up to 384kHz/32bit and DSD up to 11.2MHz from a computer. Quality construction and unique Denon technology provides unmatched performance for your cherished music collection from a brand with a more than 100-year legacy of audio innovation.
Power your loudspeakers with the Denon PMA-1600NE integrated amplifier. The PMA-1600NE delivers 140 Watts of power-per-channel into 4 Ohms. This integrated amplifier offers compatibility with the widest range of speaker types and impedances for operational stability.
Provided in a single push-pull configuration, the PMA-1600NE features Advanced UHC-MOS technology that eliminates deviations in the amplification stage and balances high power with delicate musical details. This circuit masterfully reproduces the full sonic range, from the delicate musical nuances to the powerful peaks of rich musical expression. Advanced UHC (Ultra High Current)-MOS technology utilizes a minimum number of high-current amplifier elements to balance advanced speaker drive capabilities and improve sound quality. Advanced UHC-MOS is an ideal amplifier whose power supply performance is superior to that of bipolar transistors and incorporates the sound quality advantages of MOSFETs.
The PMA-1600NE is equipped with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, the latest in analog waveform reproduction technology from Denon. Advanced AL32 Processing Plus utilizes data interpolation algorithms, which support high-resolution 384 kHz/32-bit audio sources. The algorithms add in the points that should exist before and after large quantities of data, smoothing out the waveform and restoring information that was lost during the digital recording. The resulting playback is highly detailed, free of interferences, richly expressive in the lower range and beautifully faithful to the original sound. Listen to songs as the artist intended.
To accurately synchronize digital circuits, the PMA-1600NE provides USB-DAC functions that support high resolution up to 11.2-MHz DSD and 384-kHz/32-bit PCM input signals. Crafted with exceptional quality, the DAC suppresses jitter and ensures optimal precision in D/A conversion. In addition, the DSD transmission methods support ASIO native playback and DSD Audio over PCM Frames (DoP). The D/A converter used in the PMA-1600NE is the same 384-kHz/32-bit and DSD capable premium DAC used in the DCD-1600NE to deliver a clean, high-grade sound.
Constructed with 1.0 mm thick steel plates and made of ABS resin with rigid rib construction, the chassis in the PMA-1600NE protects the signal circuits from external vibration and eliminates adverse effects of mutual interference among the circuits. It’s configured of six independent blocks that house phono equalizer and input circuitry, volume control circuitry, USB-DAC circuitry, amplification circuitry, power section and the control section. With the power section at the center, feet that support the weight of internal components and heat sinks on both sides, the construction is well-balanced and prevents unwanted vibration from affecting sound quality.
The PMA-1600NE includes a phono equalizer that supports input from both MM and MC cartridges. This phono equalizer has high gain, and unlike loops in other circuit board patterns which cause adverse effects on sound quality, the simple, straightforward design of the PMA-1600NE phono equalizer significantly improves sound.
The PMA-1600NE features two Optical inputs and one Coaxial input and supports PCM signals up to 192 kHz/24 bit. These digital inputs help to improve sound and visual quality of your TV audio, Blu-Ray, media players and more. Easily input high-resolution sound from an audio source on your computer.
Equipped with a high-speed digital isolator, the PMA-1600NE eliminates adverse effects on sound quality caused by high-frequency noise from a USB-connect computer or digital inputs. Since data is transferred magnetically via coils embedded in an IC chip, the input and output sides of the PMA-1600NE are electrically isolated. The PMA-1600NE also features a dedicated secondary winding in power transformer for the digital circuitry to shut out noise from the power source. Analog Mode can be used to turn off power to the dedicated digital power source and completely stop operation of the digital input circuitry, avoiding any high frequency influence on the analog section. Analog Mode also turns off the fluorescent display, allowing the PMA-1600NE to operate as a purely analog amp (during Analog Mode, USB-B, coaxial digital, and optical digital inputs are disabled).
Denon engineers carefully constructed the amplifier circuit within the PMA-1600NE to secure a frequency response of up to 100 kHz during applied use. The volume circuit suppresses noise in the amplifier, achieving high sonic resolution. The PMA-1600NE handles a wide, dynamic range of high-resolution audio sources with tone control and power throughout.
The PMA-1600NE comes with a system remote control unit that can also operate the DCD-1600NE and other Denon CD players. The low noise FL display on the product front panel gives source and sample rate indication.
To eliminate interference and maintain exceptional sound quality, the main power transformer of the PMA-1600NE has separate coiled wires for the audio and control circuits. An integrated micro-processor features Stop Mode for even greater sound quality while you listen.
The micro-processor of the PMA-1600NE features a Stop Mode that automatically ceases all operations of the micro-processor when it’s not needed for playback. By stopping the oscillation of the micro-processor clock during these listening moments, the audio signal is protected from external noise and enhances sound quality.
Founded in 1910, Denon has a deep heritage of "firsts" in audio technology — from Japan's first audio electronics manufacturer, to producing the world's first commercial CDs. This focused investment in audio R&D ensures you get the latest technology and highest quality with every listening experience.
